Bendigo & District Music Academy.
The Bendigo & District Concert Band is excited to announce the formation of the Bendigo & District Music Academy the developmental arm of the Bendigo & District Concert Band. The Bendigo & District Music Academy has been specifically formed to further enhance the development of the musical talent in Bendigo and throughout central Victoria.
The vision of the Bendigo & District Music Academy is to provide concert band musicians with the opportunity to develop their skills within a supportive ensemble environment. The Bendigo & District Music Academy will use rehearsals, small group tuition and master classes to help all the members to acquire new skills and to improve on the musical skills they have. Players of all brass, woodwind and percussion instruments are encouraged to become a part of this exciting new venture.
The Bendigo & District Music Academy will be led by Brendon Alsop. Mr Alsop is a musician with over 30 years experience. During this time Mr Alsop has been a member of some of Australia’s leading concert bands playing under the likes of Squadren Leader (ret) Michael Butcher and Flight Lieutenant Steve Wright both Musical Directors of the RAAF Central Band. Mr Alsop will be ably supported by local music identities Jason Hague, the Musical Director of the Bendigo & District Concert Band, David Turpie and Ben Fiegert ensuring a breadth and depth of musical experience unmatched within the Bendigo region.
Rehearsals for the Bendigo & District Music Academy will be conducted on Thursday evenings from 5:30 – 7pm at the Tom Flood Sports Centre in the Old Park Road Hall with the first rehearsal being on Thursday 4th of March 2010. They will be followed at 7:30 by the rehearsal of the Bendigo & District Concert Band.
