Another Notch On The Belt
May the 31st saw the Annual Junior, School Band and Concert Band Contests being held at the Crook Street Community Hall in Strathdale.
We went in to the competition with smaller numbers in certain sections as to what we were used to but we made sure that it didn't take away our focus on performing well and wanting to achieve the ultimate result. It was a great satisfaction to claim first place in the Concert Band section with Maryborough Concert coming in at a close second. A huge amount of appreciation goes to Andrew Van Gemmet who conducted a work shop with the band to give Jason and ourselves ideas on how to approach the music in a different manner and some great techniques along the way.
Our musical selection for the afternoon contained 'Bel Air' (as our major work) 'Pachelbel's Canon' and 'Blue Moon' (enhanced by a great solo on Saxophone, cheers Ben).
Once again there were tense moments in rehearsal as we worked through individual challenges that put us to the test but, once again the persistence paid off in the long run.
A big thank you to Alison Dullard for jumping in on Clarinet at the last minute.
Also, thanks to Charlie Jones for the photo.
